From Goethe Institut:

The South East Asian Youth Chamber Orchestra SEAYCO was founded in 2012 on mutual initiative of the Goethe-Institut Southeast Asia, to support outstanding musical talents. The concept is easy: 26 young musicians, being chosen on basis of an audition, come together twice a year for Summerschool at Mahidol College in Salaya, Thailand. Under the direction of German conductor Nicolas Pasquet, they rehearse a concert program that is being presented first in Thailand and afterwards in one other country. The project is about high quality music, but also about a common musical “spirit”. The young people come from Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Vietnam.

From 05 to 13 Oct, the next SEAYCO classes in Thailand will take place: The program the ensemble rehearses under the direction of Nicolas Pasquet and with the German violin soloist Tobias Feldmann includes a variety of works by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Schubert. Following the Summerschool, the Orchestra will come to Hanoi on invitation of the Goethe-Institut to play a big concert at the National Academy of Music – a special event for the young musicians and an opportunity to strengthen friendships made in Salaya.
