Concert of the Trio Alicja Smietana

Within the framework of the European Days and on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the EU, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Hanoi has the honour to invite you to a Concert of the Trio Alicja Smietana. The Trio will present various kinds of music from classical and traditional melodies to the jazz pieces mixed with the snare drum.

About Alicja Smietana

Award-winning violinist Alicja Smietana has a highly successful career as a virtuoso violinist of international reputation. Gaining respect of many world-famous musicians, Alicja has performed as a soloist and chamber musician together with Nigel Kennedy, Gidon Kremer, Ivan Monighetti and others all around the world.

Alicja Smietana performs works from Bach to Contemporary music with – what was described by music critics as – “Extraordinary brilliance and sensibility…”. As a soloist she’s been also performing together with many world-renowned orchestras and ensembles. She’s also been a guest at many prestigious festivals playing as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra member in Verbier, Les Musiques and Schleswig-Holstein. Since 2003 she’s being invited to play with Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra – an internationally renowned group led by Gidon Kremer – which gave her the opportunity to work closely with many of the world’s finest musicians and conductors of our time.

Free tickets are available from 22nd May 2014 at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Hanoi, 3 Chua Mot Cot (from 8 am) and at Goethe Institute- Hanoi, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc (from 10 am). Tickets will be served on the basis of first come first serve.

Alicja Smietana and Grzegorz Mania played at the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi in May 2011 and then Alicja played another night at the Hanoi Opera House with Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra a few days after. After going to the concert, our writer KVT wrote an opinion post saying “Alicja Gave Us Wonderland”.
