From the artist:
Jan Hagenkoetter, a German record collector and DJ, has put together and will soon be releasing a compilation of alternative/rock/soul pre 1975 Vietnamese music and will be doing a tour to promote the release in Vietnam next month with the band Saigon Soul Revival, DJs and fresh pressings of the compilation that he will be bringing from Germany.
What started as a dream 5 years ago now becomes reality with the release of SAIGON SUPERSOUND Vol.1, a compilation that tells the story of a musical era in Vietnam that was almost lost. During the so-called “Golden Music” period in the south of Vietnam, a lively pop culture had developed, fusing western pop music at the time (rock, soul, latin etc) with Vietnamese sounds and lyrics.
With the release of of this unique selection of songs on double gatefold vinyl and CD, the story of this nearly unknown music will be reissued and brought back to the stage by live band, Saigon Soul Revival and DJs Datodeo and Jan Hagenkötter.
