From Goethe Institut:

The European Literature Days will be held for the 8th time in Hanoi and 3rd time Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon this year. The vivid literary festival with contributions from ten European countries will be full of activities for book lovers of any age, including book presentations, readings, workshops, talks, exhibitions and film screenings.

Since 2011, the annual European Literature Days have been organized in Vietnam by EUNIC, the association of European Cultural Institutes and Embassies. The expansion to HCMC is a clear sign of growing interest in European literature. There are books for all tastes and interests from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Spain and Sweden.

The Literature Days will be launched on May 5 by the participating countries at the European Village by Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi.

Presentations of books by German authors will take place at the Goethe-Institut. Author Eugen Ruge and his translator will present his book ”In Zeiten des abnehmenden Lichts“, and a film adaptation of the book will be introduced the next day. We will also present 10 new issues of the book serie „WAS IST WAS“; a new edition of “The Tin Drum” by Günter Grass, and the children book “Snöfrid aus dem Wiesental- Die ganz und gar unglaubliche Rettung von Nordland” by Andreas H. Schmachtl. The program will finish with a presentation on the topic “Kafka goes to the cinema.”

The events about German literature in Hanoi will be held at the Goethe-Institut.
