From Vietnam Festival of Creativity & Design:

The National Flag red background with a yellow star represents Vietnam’s spirit, the solidarity of ethnicities, the revolutionary fight and heroic sacrifices of the Vietnamese people during the fight for national independence and reunification.

Learn about a familiar everyday icon one may not think about. How much do you know about the design and the reasons artist Bui Trang Chuoc chose the particular images that make up the National Emblem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam? It represents Vietnam’s sovereignty and national identity, a symbol for an independent country and it was formally adopted in 1956.

In 1944 Nguyen Van Cao composed what is now the National Anthem, but why did he originally write/compose it? This song was first formally played on 2 September 1945 during the Declaration of Independence Ceremony at Ba Dinh Square.

Speakers:
Ms. Tran Viet Hoa, Director of the National Archives Centre III
Ms. Le Thi Ly, Archivist and Vice-Head of the Promotions Department, National Archives Centre III
