From the organizer:

Tuồng is a form of Vietnamese theatre, often referred to as classical “Vietnamese opera”. In Tuồng, the masks and costumes of character describe their personalities. Audiences can easily guess which character is good and which one is evil just by looking at their appearances.

In life, more of than not we “judge a book by its cover” – judging someone based on their appearance, not only in terms of their qualities but also their capability, intellect, and moral values.

Using the materials of Tuồng to tell stories about prejudices and inequality, the project “Đa diện diễn đời” hopes to help reducing inequality and bringing folk culture closer to young people.

Come to a talk show of the same name with an exhibition of Tuồng masks as its highlight, you will get to express your opinions and feelings on the masks people wear in real life, “tangibilize” your thoughts and evaluation of them, touch, hold, and even tear them down. You will become part of the exhibition.

In short, how are the Tuồng masks related to inequality? Why do we “play” Tuồng in real life? What are the underlying reasons for people to wear “masks”? Come and find out.
