Good news for all present and future polyglots: On October 27th the “2nd European Language Day ” will be once more organized by the EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) members: British Council, the Embassy of Hungary, Goethe-Institut, Instituto Cervantes, the Embassy of Spain, the Embassy of Italy and Wallonia-Brussels Delegation, at Goethe-Institut, to introduce the diversity of their national languages, promote multilingualism and address the benefits of Early Foreign Language Learning.

As in the last year the „Day of European Languages“ is divided into two parts: In the morning a conference for linguists and experts on language teaching will take place at the exhibition hall at Goethe- Institut. At the second half of the European Language Day representatives of the participating institutions will present their respective languages and countries.

Everybody who is interested in language and culture is more than welcome to join one of the languages classes or watch a short film at the exhibition hall.

9:00 AM – 1:00 PM : Conference ”Early Foreign Language Learning – Chances and Challenges in Viet Nam”. Prior registration required.

This event will address the challenges and chances in the context of early foreign languages learning. A topic which gained importance in the last years. Many parents want their children to learn a foreign language at a young age, which shall increase to development of languages skills as well as the intelligence of the children. Four experts will give lectures about this topic and discuss it with the audiences.

All lectures will be simultaneously translated into Vietnamese.

2:00 PM – 6:00 PM: European Language Festival: Short language courses and activities in Spanish, German, English, Hungarian and French. Public event.

The program in the afternoon is targeting everybody how is up for getting in touch with a new culture and would like to learn some basic foreign language skills. Especially families and kids are welcome. All participating countries introduce themselves and their languages in short languages classes and a lot of other activities. In short languages courses adults as well as kids will have the opportunity to get excite about English, French, Spanish, Italian, German or Hungarian.

Simultaneously short films shall be screened at Goethe-Institut´s exhibition hall.
