From the organizer:

We are honored to present “A Little Bit of This and That”, a solo photography exhibition by Dinh Nguyen. This event marks the opening of Matca space for photography after two years of work.

“My practice of photography comes from an assigned task of documenting places as part my job as an architect: be it a public setting, a personal space, the pace of daily life or fleeting moments. […]

In the midst of such bizarre atmosphere, feelings as captivating as they are elusive emerge. Photography, like a date with myself, has given form to those feelings, opened a new way of seeing and cementing personal experiences. A Little Bit of This and That is about such slices of life.” – Dinh Nguyen

The exhibition is sponsored by The Cultural Development and Exchange Fund (CDEF) and Canon Vietnam.

About the artist:
Dinh Nguyen (1979) is an architect based in Saigon. He takes photos in order to see things outside of his day job and quotidian boredom.

About Matca:
Matca, whose name means fish-eye in Vietnamese, is born solely out of our passion for and beliefs in photography as a form of narration and visual arts.

For the past two years, our website matca.vn has become the leading bilingual online journal dedicated to Vietnamese contemporary photography. We have also been running exhibitions, educational programs, and multi-disciplinary projects in cooperation with local and international experts in the industry.

From April 2019, we will continue our adventure with a specialized physical space for photography in the center of Hanoi. With an exhibition space, a library, multi-functional room and photo studio all located in one building, this gathering place aims at nurturing the local photography community and giving recognition to photo-based artists.
