From Action for the City:

In the context of global climate change and the exhaustion of the world’s natural resources, empowering people to live more sustainably is meaningful and practical work. To recognise the efforts of members of Green Living teams towards a sustainable lifestyle, Action for the City has cooperated with the Vietnam Women’s Museum to hold the exhibition ‘I Live Green’.

The photographs and objects will show the cooperation of an Irish and Vietnamese NGO in supporting urban citizens to live green through the project “Neighbourhood Empowerment in Hanoi”. The photographs taken by Paul Zetter record daily life activities of the members of Green Living teams in Hanoi and Hoi An that significantly contribute to saving resources, reducing garbage and raising awareness with their neighbours. With more than 5000 households in Hanoi, Danang, Hoi An and over 2000 households in Ballymun, Dublin, Ireland, the Green Living movement is connecting individuals and communities in the two countries in their shared efforts to build sustainable urban communities.

As well as photographs and everyday objects, the exhibition will also display a greenhouse made from recycled bottles – a joint effort between Action for the City, architects Hoang Thuc Hao, Vu Xuan Son, Nguyen Van Au and volunteer students from the University of Civil Engineering. The greenhouse was adapted from a design by the community in Ballymun. All recycled bottles were collected by students and Green Living groups in Hanoi.
