You are invited to an exhibition lab of artist Nguyen Trac Cuong: 1 event, 10 days, 4 major areas: paintings, photos, installations, time for (re)creation: fadish flowers. The artist invites visitor to get into the intimacy of his own world, giving him a chance to be both viewer and  / or  artist. He offers us to live the experience of a summer walk, all senses awaken by hundreds of lotus flowers that will unexpectedly invade the scene of the Maison des Arts exhibition center, for 10 outstanding days.

About exhibition

Our intention is to wonder about the role of Vietnamese artist today and to offer an open discussion between art lovers, painters or critics around the following topics for thought :
– Being a painter : an occupation or a vocation ?
– Living upon one’s own painting : is it an end in itself ?
– The creative process : “feeling one’s own way and inventing” or “finding and reproducing ?”
Exhibition includes 4 major areas:
– Paintings: A retrospective around 3 majors stages of NGUYEN TRAC CUONG’S artwork.
– Photos: Pictures to keep records of his immediate past : destruction by bulldozers of the painter’s studio. A place soon to be replaced by a road. A situation mirroring the growth of the country as a whole.
– Installation: An opened sculpture : cobblestones have a soul. Nguyen Trac Cuong breathes new life into the rocks that tell a story about old roads and remind us the customs clattered of meanings and symbolic content. When they were to leave their village to get married, young women had to give a donation : 5 rocks that would be hewed as cobblestone to contribute to the construction of the road in the village. Stones that are today left neglected and that Nguyen Trac Cuong uses to tell us a new story
– Time for (re)creation: flowers: Just imagine !
Imagine a small boat a bit off the side.
Imagine hundreds of lotus that surround you and delight your senses with subtle smells.
Imagine what it is waiting like….
Waiting for the time to pass, waiting for something to happen, or just being, here and now.
A pretext to recreate the world of Nguyen Trac Cuong and to invite you to dive into it, be it as a viewer, as a seeker or as an artist.

About artist Nguyen Trac Cuong

1968 : Born in Vietnam – 1994 : Graduated from Vietnam Fine Arts Institute – 1996 : Member of Hai Duong Literature and Arts association. Participated in several exhibitions such as National Fine Arts exhibition in Hanoi city and other areas. Having paintings in National and international private collections in France and USA.
