New Films from Southeast Asia in Hanoi at European – Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival 2015

Sat 13 Jun 2015, 2 – 9 pm
National Studio for Documentary and Scientific Film
From Goethe Institut:
A special series within the European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival will present new films by young filmmakers from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam on Saturday, June 13.
The films display a dazzling range of topics; the tone alternates between humorous and serious. The various locations and characters lead the audience to places outside of the public eye and tell the stories of those who often have no voice.
The audience is invited, for example, to cheer on the superwomen of the Laotian Women’s National Team, who demonstrate with untiring zeal and passionate devotion that rugby is a sport for everyone, while the contribution from Malaysia is more serious: the venue is Kuala Lumpur’s red light district where 17-year-old Ida and her family must struggle to get by.
Moreover two Docfilm Networks will be presented in the afternoon: Lumière du Monde – EurasiaDoc and DocNet SEA “Dare to Dream”.
