From the organizer:

You are invited to a solo exhibition “PRAXIS” by artist Ilza Burchett from Australia and Hanoi, Vietnam.

Curated by Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, the Art Director of Heritage Space, Hanoi, this exhibition will be the first solo exhibition for the artist in Vietnam, presenting 16 small format abstract paintings made in the years 2008/2009 in Sydney, Australia and 2012/2013 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

In his curatorial introduction to the “Praxis” exhibition, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan writes:

“This painting no longer depends on visual expressions, or on the subject and context. This art is aimed at developing and building the capacity to touch and communicate with the inner spiritual layers of the individual. Beyond the semantics and boundaries of an art practice, this practice by Ilza Burchett is meant to embody a working philosophy of the artist. A philosophy that embraces the behavior and etiquette of painting, governs the creative and cognitive abilities of the author. And “PRAXIS”, more than just an art practice, it is a practice of an inner spiritual life, using one’s own art to open up the inner world.”

And a short, but precise comment about works of Ilza Burchett through the years by art-writer Rada Filipović (Serbia):

“…conceptual and professional matrix serves as the backbone in paintings of Ilza Burchett, an exquisite connoisseur of different art media, but also an obvious alchemist of lively, sparkling colours. It is through light and texture that her images underline the idea of ambiguity of life and world.” (from ‘Art Recognizes No Borders’, 2011)
