From Bookworm:

Linda Mazur came to Hanoi in 1998 and discovered that Hanoi is a city pulsing with life. Even the concrete has a heartbeat.

She revelled in French architecture,  pagodas and temples, the archaeology dig at the citadel, and tube houses…………………………… and then she discovered the unsung glories built in the 1930ies that are scattered around Thien Quang Lake and Ba Dinh….

Linda’s research has allowed these houses to tell  individual stories about their Vietnamese architects …. their modernist European influences…. the families who built and lived in them (and sometimes still do)

Her photographs and maps of THEN and NOW take in a swathe of Hanoi’s ever changing urban landscape and her entertaining discussion will make you wish that the concepts used in these buildings were still part of the city’s architectural language

Linda provides easy to use maps that show building locations
