An exhibition of 70 caricatures by architect Ly Truc Dung. Dung, who completed his architectural studies in Weimar, has been well-known in the Vietnamese caricature scene for the last 30 years. His humorous and ironic drawings mirror daily life in Vietnam, he has reflected on living conditions in the time of the planned economy, after the economic reforms as well as modern Vietnamese life.
“For Laughing, For Reflecting” is his first solo exhibition and presents a selection of the artist’s best work from various epochs.
Ly Truc Dung, born 1946, studied Architecture in Weimar and is a member of the Architects’ Association and Artists’ Association of Vietnam. He works as architect and in the field of civil engineering. As a painter he is well-known for his caricatures and his silk paintings. His caricatures appear in many prominent newspapers and magazines in both Vietnam and Germany.
