‘Faceless Cities?’
British Council’s Citytalk November
This is the century of the city and the arts have always played a significant role in shaping the quality of life in our cities.
Different cities have different identities – which reflect their differing culture. Human create cities and the arts keep the city’s characteristics alive
The British Council’s CityTalk this month will focus on what constitutes urban identity: Geography, history or cultural values, the arts and the diversity of its inhabitants.
The debate will also emphasise the importance of cultural factors in urban planning processes as well as the concern about the impact of globalisation on cities these days: What would happen under globalisation? Will the cities all become identical? Will they gradually loose their characteristics because of this ‘flat world’?
With the participation of photographer Hazel Thompson from the UK, cinematographer Jamie Maxtone-Graham and writer Chu Lai and led by TV presenter My Linh; ‘Faceless Cities?’ promises to be one of the exciting events in Hanoi this winter.
The discussion will be in Vietnamese and English with simultaneous translation.
This November CityTalk is organised by the British Council Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnam Television.
