From Goethe Institut:

The internationally acknowledged video artist Harun Farocki is one of the most outstanding representatives of German experimental film. The Professor and film scholar Thomas Elsaesser wrote about him: „If I am interested in the way of how technology and therefore electronic media changed the society, then I could find no better annalist of its history, intellectual observer of their connections, sharp-witted critic but still interested participant to their era – shaping meaning than Harun Farocki”

His current long-term-project“Labour in a Single Shot“ lead him to the workshop (19.- 30.08.2013) at DOCLAB/Goethe-Institut Hanoi.

On the occasion of Harun Farocki’s visit to Vietnam, the Goethe-Institut Hanoi will present four of his films on two evenings. The selected short films deal with topics as labour (“Workers leaving the factory”), war (Pictures of the World and Inscriptions of War”, “Inextinguishable Fire”) and consumer society (“Still life”). Harun Farocki discusses with the audience which visual language he found to depict these topics.
