From the organizer:
This workshop focuses mainly on the dancer’s relationship with the floor, earth and ground. Simple movement patterns involve breathing, speed, and the release of energy through the body in order to activate the relationship between centre and periphery and between joints and skin. Exercises will focus on moving in and out of the ground more efficiently by maintaining the state of being centred. Emphasis is placed on the skeletal structure, which will aid to improve physical perception and alertness. The workshop includes partnering work and movement phrases, which explore the primary laws of physics: cohesion and expansion.
Connecting with our breath to channel the source of our inner power and allowing any tension to melt away, engaging the present sensory awareness and transforming your energy through space. Through different combinations and exercises, finding efficient ways to move in and out of the floor, inviting sensation to develop new movement qualities. Through this blend we will find the unity of the four rhythms we experience in our lives: heartbeat, breath, meridian rhythm, and cerebrospinal fluid rhythm. All these four rhythms regulate our homeostasis in body, mind and spirit to ignite full embodiment and total finding the state of depth movement and the essence of living. Incorporating, eastern and western approaches to movement practise with strong influences from Qi gong, flying low, gaga technique, krump, capoeira, improvisation, and new lens to approach contemporary dance. Gaining an insight into Muti’s movement repertoire and developing your internal movement language to find your authentic expression.
