From the organizers:

You are invited to a talk show about the book “Thang Tran Phenh” with its author, NGO KIM-KHOI.

The book is written about Thang Tran Phenh – one of the few Vietnamese artists in the Late modern period. What is interesting is the author of the book – researcher Ngo Kim Khoi – is the grandson of artist Nguyen Nam Son, a well-known person living in the same period of time as Thang Tran Phenh. This seems to play a major role in the success of the book.

To be a good researcher, one first has to be a good data collector. Mr. Ngo Kim Khoi, through this book, has certainly met such a requirement. With rare passion and perfectionism, the author has revived a person, a career covered in dust through the time, and through that person and his career, a once glorious era of Vietnamese art scene appears in a surprisingly vivid way.

Despite having been living in France for many years, Ngo Kim Khoi still possess an excellent, diverse and sophisticated use of the Vietnamese language. His fluency in French also helped him access many resources that were unknown to those in Vietnam.

A unique research approach, an excellence accuracy of data, and the sincere & heartfelt passion of the writer are the three factors that highlight this work.
