A Night at the Opera – The Magic Flute

The Hanoi Opera Guild will screen a relatively new version of Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) by the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The Magic Flute was Mozart’s final opera and premiered six weeks before Mozart’s death. Although it is currently in the opera repertoire and is considered Mozart’s most popular opera, it was originally written as a singspiele in the German language, somewhat different from the Italian language operas that Mozart usually composed.
One of the most popular arias from the opera is the introduction of Papageno as the bird-catcher:

For those with membership at the Cinémathèque, make a reservation as usual by phoning the Cinémathèque, daily between 14:00 – 21:00 at 3936-2648. A limited number of tickets are also available through the Opera Guild, send an email to [email protected]. A donation of VND 60,000 is suggested.
