Hue – Exhibition “The Whisper” by Artist Phan Le Chung

From the organizer:

This project was coined from the story of the folk paintings of Sinh Village, a type of paintings which are used in offering ceremonies of the people in Hue for many years. Through this project, the artist wishes to strike up a conversation about the imagined and the real, the limited and the unlimited of the mind.

This work is a dialogue between the past and the present, incorporating the language and the color of traditional folk art, translated into the language of contemporary art via the use of interactive installations, video art. The work attempts to portray the structure of modern life. Within it, the audience can find the existing limitations of life and the unreality of the surreal space intertwined…

This work also attempts to show the harmonious connection between contemporary art and traditional handcraft practices, between talented visual artists and skillful craftsmen to create works of high artistic and economic value.

Installation
– The interior: Dark room of 70 m2 for the projecting of a video work onto 5 screens of different colors as well as the light installation.
– The exterior: Composite and bamboo sculptures and other installations.

Phan Le Chung is currently a lecturer at Hue University College of Fine Arts, he is also a project facilitator of NSAF. This exhibition is a part of the series of annual activities of NSAF aiming to organize and support the contemporary art scene in Hue City in specific and Central Vietnam in general.
