Cinematheque cordially invites you to Jeju Island Night (Jeju Island is located off the southwest coast of South Korea) and meet photojournalist Brenda Paik Sunoo, a former Hanoi expat from the U.S. (2002-2009) and author of “Vietnam Moment” and “Moon Tides–Jeju Island Grannies of the Sea”. Photos of the elderly women free divers in “Moon Tides” will be on exhibit throughout the evening.

Cinematheque will also feature a charming film about a Jeju Island woman diver, titled “My Mother, the Mermaid” starring South Korean actress Jeon Do-yeon, awarded Best Actress at Cannes Film Festival in 2007 for her role in “Milyang” (My Secret Sunshine).
