KVT – Don’t miss out on Pure Gold
I’ve never given a pre-show, 5 star wrap up… but for the upcoming, pure golden MY VILLAGE I lay down my defenses
IF I WAS GOING TO BE IN HANOI in mid or late July I know which show I’d be grabbing a seat for. But as I’ll be luxuriating in the cool climes of Atlantic coastal Ireland I’m glad I’ve seen the show twice before – as it birthed and as it developed into an international success
IF I HAD OLDER KIDS THIS IS THE ONE SHOW I’D MAKE SURE THEY SEE… We took a 9 year old fishing village kid to the 2013 show and he sat goggle eyed and enthralled for 60 golden minutes
IN FACT IF YOU’RE IN HANOI IN JULY and can afford the tickets THEN YOU’D BE SILLY TO MISS OUT

Live Performance “Lang Toi – My Village”
16 – 17, 25 and 26 Jul 2016, 6pm
Hanoi Opera House
“Lang Toi” is a delicate merge of tradition and innovation, where the poetic beauty of Vietnamese village life is presented under new cirque approach using iconic bamboo; breathtaking cirque and twenty different exotic folk instruments performing live. In 2005, the group of 4 creators created “Lang Toi” in Hanoi. From 2009 to 2012, the show toured the world with over 300 shows in France, Holland, Spain, Belgium, Greece, Hungaria, Germany, and Hong Kong.
The French Daily Newspaper – Le Monde, 11/07/2011 commented on the show:
“The beautiful idea is using the bamboo trunk, an ancient material, as the key to the whole show. With just a few pieces of strips or bike tires, the artists of the Nouveau Cirque du Vietnam are composing and recomposing infinitely movable and superb architectures.”
Kiem Van Tim is a keen observer of life in general and the Hanoi cultural scene in particular and offers some of these observations to the Grapevine. KVT insists that these observations and opinion pieces are not critical reviews. Please see our Comment Guidelines / Moderation Policy and add your thoughts in the comment field below. |
This show seems to be at the Saigon Opera House, not in Hanoi, in July. At least that is what the information on the website of the production company says when trying to book a ticket … luneproduction.com
