From the organizer:
Do Tuan Anh’s first solo exhibition in Germany, in FONIS Gallery in Düsseldorf proudly bears the title “Das unberührte Land” (The Untouched Land).
In his works Do Tuan Anh processed in his first experience in Germany and his experience with the art world. He creates images that tell stories of “Märchenwelten” – “Fairytale Worlds”. He also uses fables as a stylistic device. From a great void the first “islands of intimacy” has been created, hope germinates and the positive crystallized out.
The artist chooses silk as material for this exhibition. The delicate, fine fabrics as an expression of tenderness, weaves in the new home with black ink contrast. Images and the power of color and materials relate. Black and white also dominant here, as in his work in recent years.
DO TUAN ANH is 37-year-old Vietnamese-born artist. For 3 years he has lived with his wife and their son in Solingen Gräfrath in a historic half-timbered house. He studied at the University of Art and Design in Hanoi. In his works, which were shown in numerous exhibitions in Hanoi, are topics of society, such as Revolution and women’s rights, rural exodus, marginalization of social groups in Hanoi, the rapid change of time or very personal issues such as humans and migration. Earlier this year he has participated in group exhibition “Migration and Identity” at Goethe Institut in Hanoi.
